Halloween!!

The Dead Mailman & The Mad Hatter

Yes, politcal mail was the death of me this year.
(I did actually deliver all day dressed like this!)

The slightly off the Mad Hatter bowed his good-byes and was off to school.

We really had fun this year dressing up, despite having to work and go to school.

Hope you had Happy Hauntings!

Happy Halloween - Weekend!

Let the Weekend Begin!!
Saturday brought forth an amazing display of skills on two wheels at Trials from the Crypt.
A National bicycle trials competition at which Jim declined to participate but chose to
to judge instead. Competitors from around the US and the world came to play on the rocks here in Durango. Stown and I helped time the rounds and keep the spectators out of the course. I didn't have much time to snap pictures but here are a few.....
Keep in mind these guys "bunny-hop" off the ground to reach these rocks and then hop from rock to rock... What balance and strength!!

Aran Cook (Great Britain)- the Pro Class Winner

Jonathan Tollerud - Finished in the top 4 in the Pro Class

Jim judging - Rider unknown

Sunday - Tricks and Treats
We weren't the only ones dressing up for All Hallows Eve.
Our house desperately needed a new front door. The original had seen it's share of harsh winters and blazing summer sun, it was time to retire it from it's years of loyal duty.

Old Door -(Notice how the frame on the left is damaged) - over the past few years a random neighbor cat had decided to use it as a scratching post and a pissing place. An obvious territorial act due to the fact that our cat stays indoors and cannot mark her own yard.

Stown
Give a boy a hammer and a pry bar and he's in Heaven destroying things!

Brand Spankin' New Door
(Still need to spot paint over the caulk we used to seal the frame.)

Finally - Time to Play!!
Jim worked too late,
so Stown and I dressed up and went to town with friends for some trick or treatin'.
Like a real construction pro, I had my shovel to lean on, while the Cheshire cat pranced around.

A bit confused? Perhaps calling for a rescue from the weird cat?

Our Ghoulish Friends
Hope you had a productive and fun weekend.
Still to come... the Mysterious Camping Visitor...

1st Day of School - In Durango!!

Cheshire Cat?
Nope, it's Stown!!

Today was Stown's first day of school here in Durango and it was also the school's Halloween celebration. Students were encouraged to wear costumes. How cool to be able to dress up for your first day at a new school.
Stown created the costume himself. Black pants, a black shirt and loads of pink and purple duct tape (I didn't know it came in such colors) and the Cheshire cat was born. On Halloween he will be painting his face but for school it was not allowed.

Dinah's rear end, Jim & Stown
Jim drove him to town this morning. He was to be at school early to receive a tour of the location of his classes. We toured the campus yesterday but with out his schedule it was only a general information tour. Yeah, my big freshman!!
Due to a strange series of events last week, Stown showed up on our doorstep at 11pm on Thursday night in the rain. Earlier that afternoon Patty (mom) and Gary (step dad) also arrived in town. The past seven days have been non-stop hustle and bustle with family visits, sightseeing, eating out (I think I gained a few pounds!) and pursuing school options for Stown. After the parents left to head home to California, we had our final school interview. Stown is now attending Durango High School as a freshman. We all have many adjustments to make in the days to come. Jim and I are extremely happy to have Stown here with us and Stown is happy to be here. We can't wait to see what the future holds!!
Love to all....
Remember, good things DO come to those who wait!!!
